Gender Reveal Ideas

So as many of you know, Wes and I will be finding out the gender of our baby soon.  We haven't decided if we would like to know before everybody else or do a gender reveal party.  If we however decide on the party, here are some ideas we have come across that are cute:

  • Balloons-in-a-Box
    • For many people who have a pinterest account, I'm sure you have seen the "Ballon-in-a-Box" idea done in many different ways.  Basically you ask the ultrasound technician to put the results in an envelope and then bring it to the store and ask the clerk to fill up a box with pink or blue balloons (depending on the sex).  When the party day comes, the box is opened revealing boy or girl:)
  • Confetti
    • For this, a big black balloon is filled with confetti (again, blue or pink) and then popped in front of friends and family
  • Team Pink Vs. Team Blue
    • Have friends and family dress in pink or blue- depending on which "team" they are on
  • Open a Gift
    • Pick out two baby outfits and have the cashier pack up the one that is the outfit you will need- later at a party open this gift in front of others
  • Cake/Baked Goods
    • A friend of mine did this recently - a very cute idea- Have a baker do a cake (or cookies etc) with a blue or pink filling, and bit/cut the cake at a party
  • Pinata
    • Fill a pinata with blue or pink candies and have guests/parents-to-be open the pinata

This have been the ones I can find- any other ideas out there?  What do you think of the whole Gender Reveal Party Idea?

we did a gender party reveal for my boyfriends sister. It was so exciting for everyone! She did the cake and we bet on what we thought the gender would be. She only had her close immediate family so it was still intimate. It was so neat to see the reactions on their faces and so amazing to share in that. And we got pictures and videos of the moment too! They found it more exciting this way too. I thought it was a great idea!! However it was their third child they had already had the oppourtunity to find out on their own so this was just something different and new.
I LOVE the baby clothes idea if you decide to do it! so practical haha :)

  3. The balloon idea sounds fun! Although....the cake would be super fun for everyone as well(plus, then you get to eat cake - and who doesn't love cake?!)

Whatever method you choose will be exciting for you and your family/friends!

    1. I think even if we didn't have a gender party per say, maybe if we just got some pictures done while we opened the box of balloons it would be nice:)

  4. Love the party idea! I wish we could've waited, but the minute we found out we told everyone. :) In fact, my parents and in laws went with us to that ultrasound appointment! lol. I think the pinata and cake idea are super cute.

    1. haha awe- Wes and I are the same way-- when it comes to keeping big news to ourselves... it's hard though I am thinking if we did one of these and kept the box/cake or whatever at somebody else's house there's no chance of us peaking ;)
